Now Enrolling — Cohort I
An intensive online program in museum planning, exhibition design, and collections management — with real project opportunities through Museum Planning LLC upon completion.
About the Program
Museum School is a professional training program built around the same frameworks used by leading museums across North America. Created by Mark Walhimer — author of Museums 101 and Designing Museum Experiences — it goes far beyond passive video courses.
You'll complete real project briefs, receive detailed feedback, and build a portfolio of museum planning work. Students who excel gain access to a curated talent pool, where Museum Planning LLC draws from for paid, real-world consulting projects.
This is training with skin in the game — for both of us.
Curriculum
History, governance, mission development, and the landscape of museum typologies — art, science, history, children's, and beyond.
Flow, narrative, interactivity, and visitor experience. You'll develop a full concept brief for an original exhibition.
Acquisition, cataloging, conservation ethics, and digital collections. Grounded in AAM and ICOM standards.
Designing public programs, school partnerships, and community engagement that connect audiences to collections.
Grant writing, earned revenue, capital campaigns, and building sustainable museum business models.
Feasibility studies, master planning, and the consulting deliverables that clients actually pay for. Real-world applications.
